Commission types

Art created for an individual for home display - this can also include display in an office/place of business, as long as it is not used or meant as an advertisement.

These do NOT include license to sell or reproduce.

Art used in advertising or sales

“Commercial use” includes, but is not limited to: advertising, visual branding, and graphic design, book illustrations, web design, and more.

There are many opportunities to communicate about changes while the commission is in progress (colors, placement of elements, etc.).

Once the commission is finished and approved, there will be no refunds.

Typically, I will send the client a photo at each stage (sketch, line art, base colors, shading, finishing touches, etc.) and allow for revisions at each of those points.

This means there are at least 4 to 5 opportunities for revisions (but probably more)

Deposits are required before the artwork creation begins - this amount will not be refunded if there is a cancellation. 

Watercolor deposit : $50

Illustration deposit : varies according to the estimated project cost.

Payments must be sent through one of the approved methods

• PayPal
• Venmo

If you are local, cash or card may be an option (subject to SqueakySketches' approval) - No checks.

Price must be paid in full before the client receives the final artwork.

Watercolor, design, etc. are priced hourly. Pet portraits have set pricing tiers.

• SqueakySketches will provide an estimate once the client has given a detailed commission reques.
• Major changes made during the creation of the commission can affect the estimated price (purchasing special supplies, etc); small changes will not change the price.
• Any commission changes that affect the price will be clearly communicated before the changes are made.

There are no refunds or exchanges on custom commissions.

Please feel free to suggest changes during the process if you are ever unhappy with any part of the commission.

• Sometimes things happen and you have to cancel and while I understand, unfortunately, I will still have to charge a fee to cover the time already spent on the project.
• If the client cancels prior to the stated delivery date (agreed upon at purchase) there will be a 25% cancellation fee.
• For cancellation within 5 business days of the delivery date, the client is responsible 100% of the fee and any expenses incurred.

SqueakySketches may use images or scans of commissions (in-progress or completed) for online promotion of sales, events, and commissions. 

SqueakySketches reserves all rights of reproduction and copyrights of personal commissions.

Personal subjects (individuals, pets, etc.) will not be reproduced.

Personal commissions may be used by the client as:

• social media icons
• profile photos 
• prints/decor in your home or business

Personal commissions may not be used by the client as:

• sold or used as NFTs
• printed on products for sale
• credited as your own art
